Smithsonian Castle & Enid A Haupt Garden
Erected in 1846, the Castle was the original building of the Smithsonian Institution. As the collection grew, new museums were built and the artifacts moved out of the Castle. Today the building contains the administrative offices upstairs and a visitors center on the main floor. Behind the Castle is the Enid A Haupt Garden, built on top of the S Dillon Ripley Center, the National Museum of African Art and the Sackler Gallery.
