Vivitar ViviCam 3545
My first compact/mini digital camera, which I purchased back in 2005. This ViviCam 3545 is a 1.3 mega pixel "wearable" camera and takes both JPG images and AVI video. It can also work as a webcam (back in the day before laptops and PCs had built-in cameras), hooked up to your PC via the USB port. It has 16MB of built-in storage, optical view finder, and operates on two AAA batteries. It isn't a high resolution camera, but it wasn't meant to be. It was designed as a compact camera that you could wear and take with you anywhere. It even came with an extra long lanyard, so you could wear it around your neck. Remember, this was a time before smart phones. So it was a very unique camera, back in its day. You can find some photos I've taken with this camera in my 23HQ album here... |

Karl got an early Dimage EX when it was not the newest any longer it's price fell. Back then I had an analog SLR eating expensive special batteries that where not rechargable and that tiny thing went with just the same rechargables as the flashlight and the alarm clock and made pics which needed not to be sent in at the drugstore and retrieved later. ... but I have no idea where it is meanwhile, likely he got rid of it...
The Dimage EX was quite the camera, when it first came out. Too bad Minolta didn't keep the model alive, as the removable lens assembly was certainly an innovative idea. It wasn't until 2001, when I could afford my first digital camera. It was the Kodak DC-215.
