Hey, long time no see.

Does this mean the spook is over and we can comment again? :o)

Ewww, no!!!!
It's apperantly only you, I still cant comment on anyone else's new uploads and just get timed out. Have you found a solution or never had the problem?
Fizgig November 18, 2020, 12:45 PM
I didn't know there WAS a problem..... I haven't been commenting 'cause I haven't been around ;)

I tested the reCaptcha junk when not logged into the site (to bypass my "plus" acct.) & no matter the fixes attempted, it simply doesn't work. They must've updated the version of reCaptcha they use on the site.

Did you try to contact the admin. at all?

In the meantime, I guess there are benefits to paying for using the service ;)

I have no idea if my contacting worked. I sent e-mail trough a link on the "About" page of some dude that used long ago to answer to people in the help forum that has "team"written by the side of his name.It vanished as I pressed "send"and I sent myself a copy and I got this one, but no answer of him yet. Could be he never checks that e-mail address if I am not very lucky.... Being not able to write anywhere here but below my own pics and those e-mail links so far people do not surpress them it is a bit difficult to formally and publicly ask for help. It seems almost everyone else I know on here has the problem, I have einther not interacted other than giving stars sine 2 weeks, our we are in mail contact. but then people like you with the "plus"by the name are very rare not sure if there even is a second member that paid left. :o)

Dunno.... But with "plus" you don't have to deal with he reCaptcha nonsense that has become so popular all over the web. It's worth the $20 USD to not have to deal with it here --- except when posting a new topic in the help forum. Besides that, I don't think it's fair for a site to host so much of my photography without getting paid for it ;) But, as you say, I'm a rarity....

Anyway, I also sent a message to Steffen thinking that being a paying customer might afford me some leverage.

I'll have to tinker with the Flash side of things on my computer to see if I can find a solution there. Don't feel like it at the moment, but, since the new version(s) of reCaptcha are supposed to be Flash-based, it's worth a look-see. That said, this is far from the only site with problems with this security POS from Google.... I personally find it funny to see Google in the same sentence as "internet security"....

I thought Flash is to go totally very soon and this is the whole issue. A new Captcha whould have to be all without flash, as the support ends, no?
Fizgig November 20, 2020, 07:14 AM
Well, yes & no.... Adobe will end support (and coding) for Flash player. That doesn't mean others won't continue to create Flash-based content. There are other Flash players around, after all --- Adobe's is just the first & best known &, in recent years, the one with the most security issues. Folks aren't going to recode scores of websites all over the world just because Adobe decided to no longer provide a Flash player ;)

I am not really sure what that Adobe in a Computer is, I just got that warning. I dont play any computer games and usually animation is nothing I ever asked for. To e the introduction of the JPG allowing photos to load fast and look better than full colour BMP after unpacking or awful reduced GIF, was the last positive and truly exiting technical thing that ever happened online. Perhaps it will be time for me to go back to uncomplicated life how it was before computers, sitting at home doing household related hobbies. No further humans to be aquainted with noone in my real life knows, no tech troubles. Only meanwhile my husbands elder siblings that back in the 90s where scared to allow their teen kids a computer and supected in their phantasy all sorts of scandalous adult stuff I do in cyberspace are online themselves, proud as Oskar about all their church, society and club stuff on websites, facebook and twitter and any article in the digital version of the local paper mentioning them, their brood or neighbors.

Adobe is a software company.... Most well known for Photoshop software =)

Life before all this "techie stuff" -- as my mom calls it -- was certainly less complicated =) Some of the tech. stuff is god, some bad. Just like some offline hobbies can be good or bad ;) As I always tell her, the tech. isn't the problem, but the things that people choose to do with it.

I'm one of the rare breed of tech. people who can't stand FB & Twitter & all that kind of nonsense (that includes refusing to text anything to anyone). When I call some company's customer support, I'd rather talk to a living person than navigate some stupid automated system ;) But I also like to tinker with computers --- they fascinate & intrigue me. Yet, I can go get lost in the wilderness with no phone, computer, or GPS and be perfectly happy for weeks on end & actually lament having to return to a world with all those complications ;)
