Without the Wehrmacht in the 1930s, the sight would be dominated by a castle ruin of the Knights Templar, or perhaps digs for even much earlier history, and Altenstadt would not have become dso ependant on the military and extreme sports hobbyists that like to fall out of the sky.
Wikipedia in english is alas absolutly not current but it tells part of the newer history 1930s to 2010.

This is not an interest of mine out of personal choice. Generally I hate flightshows, but my husband owns a wood plot on this vantage point looking down on the Burglachberg and we have sometimes to do work there. Then we have a good view of it all. I took this shots during lunch break, whilst maintainance of fence and tree seedlings.
