Image treated with Easy Zone Adjustment script and red tweaked with curves. Very little time spent just a sighting shot.

This is also very good. But if the restore plugin gives a good result with default parameters, no extra tweaking required, then why not stick with it? Especially if you have hundreds of photos to restore.

I found episode (058) of Meet the Gimp ( zone adjustment) confusing and I never tried the plugin. I wouldn't have guessed that it would be useful for an application like restoring faded colors. But I shall have to try it.

Yours is the first slide I have had to restore with such a marked red cast, mine tend to have a blue cast and Restore gives a very cold result. I also believe that with Restore there is a marked loss of detail whereas with EZA this does not appear to be the case.
