They run ariund on this island freely, humans are under the strict eyes of wardens confined to footpaths and asked not to halt or touch a bird deliberatly and be allways watchful not to kick one incidently....
Entraance fee for the reserve andthe ride is not exactly cheap, the boarding hairraising and the boat trip stomach turning for those not born sailormen like Popeye, and it's strictly limited tickets only to get on the same morning for the first 200 folks to arive, and that as weather permitting only -- but once you manage get onto Skomer at all its easier than to get close up intimate pics of a chicken in your yard. ;o)
We got twovisits and one evening boat circle trip around the famous island, inbetween we passed time with more birding visits to welsh mainland headlands, tidepooling in the littoral and ramble on the cliffs, see some of the famous manmade stuff nearby and try the local kitchen. It was a great guided tour vacation by a german company, also very limited, taking only up to 7 guests each year.
