Several of Lenks sculptures have become rather famous, amusing and amazing the tourists seeking it out deliberatly when near by. Most famous are the Imperia of Constance, the well with the Rider at Ueberlingen, and last but not least Global Players... the hillarious mural with Mutti Merkel in the altogether made also the news overseas, but perhaps you missed it, just a tiny comic relief section item in your press of course... LOL
The powers of Hagnau would prefer Heinrich Hansjakob (1837-1916) introduced to the siteseeing tourist just as the good clergyman, author and social reformer, a kind looking portly village priest withhuge hat and book that founded the first local winegrowers cooperative and wrote cronicles. There are two "nice" sculpures in the middle of the village just like that, one lifesized, one a tiny bronze in a pillar with other historic things.... The symbolist newest one out on the Burgunderhof hwever hints on stories beyond that official image, most obvious the double-faced guy that sowed wild oats several times and left the poor gals to the discriminaton of the time as mothers without a husband....
The well off wine farmer who comissioned the work had every moral right to do so, for he is Hansjakobs very own great-grandson who had faced some surprise and aprehension when he got into genealogy and was not silent as he uncovered the secret of his paternal line of orgin -- LOL
