Lake Bunnies / Seehasen

An other cryptozoological animal pair as fountain feature.... but also here, the hare is not depicted as the usual caracter from the annual childrens event, that has to be antrophomorph as he is played by a human, but as propper chimeras. The male hare has a fish back, (Lumpsucker are in German language also Seehase, just like the caracter) but his wives bum reminds more of the gastropode sea hares (Aplysiidae).

We got a very big black and white bunny that comes across the lake in summer with a embellished ferry and brings the fist grader school kids water clover that turns into little gifts -- but only after a strict ritual, with drummers ashore calling it up from the lake bottom. This is the beginning of a big street fair at the start of summer hols. At the end of the fair, the bunny leaves to return to the ground of the lake... and the poor lad in the costume to being allowed to be himself and wear less again. It must be hellish to spend a whole summer week in a thick fur overal with long ears that get stuck everywhere and getting cuddled and photographed this way.... true Sea Hares, no matter if fish or slug, dont have problems like that. They stay at home in the water.

They are all most interesting and very unusual. Nice photos, Sonja.
