Witch on the Auerberg / Hexe auf dem Auerberg

As anyone knows, sites of Saint George churches are a marker for paranormal activity. This one sits on some shack just below the church. ;o) / Wie man weiss sind dem Ritter Georg geweihte Kirchen immer ein Zeichen fuer paranormale Aktivitaeten. Die hier hockt auf einem Schuppen gleich unterhalb der Kirche. ;o)

Witch is a rather common weather vane them, meanwhile more often to see than the more traditional rooster. I guess this old girl lacks a level with directions below the skirt -- reassembled without it after a storm most likely.

It is definitely unusual to see a weather vane that doesn't feature the image of a horse or rooster... I don't recall ever seeing a witch.

Really? I think I recall occassional witches as weather vane from the USA, but the kind with a brimmed pointy hat, not with a scarf, and also not only on the hounted house in some fun park or on the barn of the farmer offering a hay-maze but also on normal rustic homes...
In Germany we see such hat-witches only of recent, as the imported extra comercial childrens holiday Halloween with it's props changes the ideas on how a fairytale witch has to look.
This is our traditional witch, a hag with a big nose and a head scarf knotted in front, which is sort of nice and really a rarity by now..
