Well, first thing I found when googling your little friend was "The horned passalus only decomposes decaying wood or logs, and it is not a pest of urban structures", so be of good cheer, it is likely also not a flower gourmet and if it decomposed a pretty zinnia accidently in it's way I am sure it feels at least a bit sorry there was not rather a log to eat... :o)
I think it's even sort of cute with the very staight middle, reminds a bit of the fun click-beetles, of course the mouth tool look a bit less like fun, I would not like to pester that critter more than needed to admire it and leave it to it's composting job.
