Life Galleries - Humans
One of my favorite memories took place here. Dad and I were looking at a display of skulls when I notice this little girl (maybe 10 or so) and her Dad walk up to the model of Lucy. She proceeds to explain to her Dad that Lucy was discovered by Dr Donald Johanson "a long long time ago" (1974) and that "she's the oldest and most important fossil ever found." I was impressed that this little girl was so knowledgeable about the subject - it seems British schools do a better job on science education than American schools.
A WARNING - There are a few pictures that are potentially offensive - there is a frank depiction of human sexuality and fertilization. http://www.nhm.ac.uk/visit-us/galleries/blue-zone/human-biology/index.html
