Darwin Centre and Behind the Scenes
The Darwin Centre is the NHM's storage facility for the "wet collection." Here are stored thousands of jars with preserved specimens available for study by scientists. Many of these are "firsts" - the first specimen of its kind ever identified. Most thrilling for me was being able to see bottles from Charles Darwin from his expedition on the Beagle, the labels carefully filled out in his handwriting.
