The aft or bow of the Sea Stallion (to me it looked like it could sail in either direction, it had a rudder in both ends. I believe this was the aft though).

I think they could sail in either direction. If memory serves, being able to navigate up narrow estuaries and rivers for trade (or war) was part of the design.

Yes, you are right, just did a bit of research, and they were build for easy navigation in both directions under the circumstances you mentioned.

And they were bloody clever those Danes (:
