Cool shot! One more payment on that old farmhouse and it's yours, eh? ;P

Ha! You're not too far off on that! It actually is on our parcel of land. Many years ago, it was the home of the family that once owned this land. But, it hasn't been lived in for about twenty five years (or so) now.

The people we bought the land from (not the ones who lived in the old house) left it to deteriorate. He turned the land into a feed lot for his cattle. So, the buildings on our land, apart from the granary and the corrals, were not being taken care of. The only things living in the old house now are the swallows that return to our homestead every spring.

The house we're living in is one that we built with our own hands when we moved out here in 2014.

This is how silence looks like?

You summed it up perfectly; Thank you very much!

That's one of the reasons why we enjoy living out here so much... the silence.

Was it not Leonard Cohen who spoke about "the chosen one"? Is that possible how you experience your living space?

Hmmm... I'm not sure if I quite see it the way Leonard Cohen spoke of it in his song. The song that plays in my head when I think about where we're living is Cat Steven's version of "Morning Has Broken."

A very flat land but in the fog it looks rather interesting anyway! ;o)

Thank you! Yes, it is quite flat out here. But, that just brings more emphasis on the sky, which is very impressive out here.

It's difficult to explain, but on a clear day, sometimes it feels like you could just fall off the face of the earth. It feels like this even more so on a clear night, when you can see all the stars in heaven. On nights like that, the stars come down and touch the horizon, in every direction. If you lie down on the ground and just look up, so all you see are stars, you really do feel like you're floating away.

For you, Sonja... a photo that I have changed from Private to Public, so you can see a little bit more of my neighborhood. :)
