Testing a way to blog on 23

I'm trying to see if I could actually use the existing 23 format to blog. The thought is to post a "blog" photo, like this one, to the account and use the description text to contain the text of the blog. It appears as though the photo description is pretty much unlimited, in length. I suppose, for search purposes, I would need to be thorough with my "tags", in order for the blog entry to be "searchable".

To keep the blog photos separated from the regular photos, I could put them into a blog album, easily keeping them in one place.

Now, if I wanted to add a photo to this blog entry, could I do it in the description field here?

It looks as though it is possible to post photos into the description field. Also, some basic HTML can be used, along with photo embedding techniques.

Although this is not the ideal solution, as these blog photos would clutter the Latest Activity section somewhat, it is at least something that I could do until 23 re-activates (or redesigns) the Stories module.

I use this method on other sites to link similar topic photos together.... Here on 23, however, even with my knowledge of HTML, I cannot get images (or any other link type) HTML code to work at all =( I've tried time and time again with no success. So kudos to you for figuring even that much out ;) This site is very unforgiving with HTML code.... The moment I try to make any changes to a comment with HTML code in it, it gets screwed up (especially when posting ASCII).

Anyway.... Nice work =)

Good to see the efforts being made. I'm a technical ignoramus so can't help in any way but I do appreciate it! Thanks guys!

Thank you for the feedback. I'm not sure if I'll be continuing with this experiment, but we'll see how things progress.

From what I can tell, "simple" HTML seems to work. For example, to put in the photo, I did this (less the spaces after the < and before the > ):
< img src="http://url.to.photo" >

To make a link to an external URL, you can do this:
< a href="http://url.of.the.link" >

And these, as well:

< b > text < /b > to Bold text.
< i > text < /i> to Italicise text.

Yeah.... Simple stuff like bold, underline, italics work alright in the captions section. But anything more complex than that doesn't seem to for me --- I can't do <a href> stuff at all; not to insert a photo or just simple text links. Soon as I click "save" the system erases all HTML code I insert into the captions box. They seem to work alright in comments boxes. Inserting ASCII gets tricky because it can't be edited --- when ya try it, the system changes the code over to HTML. It's not a huge deal but it can be an issue for those who post things like, say, textures where they want to input the credits codes for people to use.

Anyway.... It's a worthy experiment! And if you can make it work for you, I can see it being a decent alternative to blogging sites or the articles feature at ipernity. Personally, I think a blogging site is more conducive to that than anything available on 23HQ at the moment.
