Dress for the Job You Want, Not the One You Have

Research confirms that people do judge a book by its cover and a person by their appearance. Tej Kohli is a firm believer that your appearance impacts on your chance of getting a job and, when you do, the salary you receive and the raises you attract thereafter. People shown the photograph of the same woman - one with smart hair, a suit and make-up compared and one of the same woman with no make-up, messy hair and more casual clothes - perceived that the salary of the more smartly dressed woman was over twice that of the scruffy one. Tej Kohli’s view is that it pays to make an effort and that it is an investment that always delivers powerful returns.
