And the OS X Leopard fever spreads...

Yeah, after your glowing review yesterda I had to give it a try. I'm actually not sure if it's worth the $160, but it took me a sum total of 110 minutes to be back up and running -- including os installation, restoration of backup and installation of the most vital productivity tools. That just wouldn't have worked on Windows. There are no challenges left in life!

Ouch. I hope that you are not disappointed :) Some people really didn't like 10.5.

How come you got to pay $160 bucks? I got mine for $109 from Amazon, and $9 for shipping to my doorstep in Cairo.

I also didn't have to restore anything. I installed as an upgrade, and all my stuff were still there as they were.

I needed a bit of a fresh start, and since I was doing that anyway I thought that 10.5 would be a nice bonus. And I'm not disappointed, just underwhelmed I guess. It's nice but it's also a bit purple ;-)

I probably should've ordered it online but to avoid taxes I'd have to order it from inside the EU. And that's 80 pounds or something like that. I chose instant gratification instead. I usually do!

Congrats on the install. I look forward for the new 23hq features. Good luck :)

I see you got this photo using the iPhone! How is it going (hacked)? Do you think you will ever end up having a very expensive iPod touch?
Steffen Fagerström Christensen Team 23 November 09, 2007, 02:56 PM
Well, first it wasn't too expensive. $420 for the 8 GB version is actually quite managable. I ended up spending about $600 in total including shipping and unlocking though.

Apart from that it's a wonderful utility. The UI is brilliant, and physically it's much more handy than my old iPod Video. So I'm good for now. (Especcially now that Sony Ericsson w960i is getting mixed reviews)

Ah, and to adress the 23 crowd I should say that the camera is quote okay. I miss the auto-focus but I can manage without. Will need to carry around an ordinary digital camera in my bag from now on though.

How about firmware upgrades? Doable? Now that ver. 1.1.2 is out?
Steffen Fagerström Christensen Team 23 November 09, 2007, 03:30 PM
Frankly, I haven't been reading much about firmware since I got my own iPhone. I'm on 1.1.1 with iPhone Sim Free. It was about $60 for a license but it worked like a charm.

Reading some of the issues that might arise. Is YouTube working? (Sorry for all the too many questions though :) )
Steffen Fagerström Christensen Team 23 November 09, 2007, 09:13 PM
YouTube has been working quite well on my (cracked) iPhone by a co-worker of mine has been having trouble on her (uncracked) iPod Touch. I would say that you should really be buying the iPhone for watching YouTube ;-)

(Do it for the sweat iChat-like interface for text messages; for the brilliant gmail/imap interaction; to substitute your iPod for podcasting and audiobooks; and to be generally amazed by the interaction design. And I've also enjoyed being the first one in my otherwise geeky circle of friends to have one. That's a big bonus.)

I think I will just go to one of the shops selling them and give a look! This thing is just evil!

Nice... Reviews of the 2 products I really want to buy at the moment :-D.

Although I think that I'll wait for 2nd generation of the iPhone. Better let "the masses" discover all(/most of) the flaws :-P

PimpDaddy November 11, 2007, 12:20 AM
(but Steffens remarks on the iPhone makes me want one right now, regardless of possible flaws)
Ethan December 03, 2007, 02:38 PM
I wouldn't have got it, except that it was mine for about £7, which was a stupendous bargain, and now quick look is my new favourite thing!

Sweet :)
