Shrine, Asakasa

One of the things I love about travelling to Asian cities is the way shrines and temples are just... there, and part of everyday life. You don't see that in Australia. As a Buddhist, too, it's also very nice being somewhere where my religious beliefs are a part of life for people. Most relaxing!

I have no idea. I can kind of read hiragana, but I really can't do kanji. Wonder if I can find someone Japanese to translate...

i'm not japanese but learned a few kanji - it looks like the name of a shrine (the large kanji on the left), and the festival took place in april of japanese date counting (the smaller kanji on the right).
平成 hei-sei
二十一年 ni-ju-ichi-nen > year 21
四月 shi-gatsu > april
吉日 kichi-jitsu > lucky day

山 yama > mountain
王 oh > king
(next 2 kanji i can't read)
神社 jinja > shrine
