Whether by intention or not, this scene looks very Russian to me.
Certainly a heavy element of 'realpolitik' (propaganda).
This is an artwork, and for me the only part of the whole spot that is giving me something to think.

I hadn't realized that the soldiers were different nationalities, and
thought the American soldier was to do with a more recent conflict.
So of course this looks Russian - it is photo of a real Russian soldier.
Once again a reminder about the dangers of assumptions (Ass-u-Me).
