ReliabilityMonitor

This area of Vista is pretty cool. This is the Vista Reliability Monitor. It basically records the way your system functions and keeps a log of anything that causes an error message or that makes your system shutdown or reboot unexpectedly. Using this reliability monitor frequently allows you to figure out exactly what is causing your computers problems allowing you to diagnose and fix the problem quickly.

This will be one of the firs things all PC techs will be checking out when performing maintenance on a Vista machine.

VistaPersonalize

In WIndows XP users are familiar with right clicking on their desktop and selecting Properties to change a setting such as a wallpaper. In Windows Vista, Properties has turned into Personalize and what used to be the properties dialog box is now this. It's basically an improved navigational way of accessing the same options as you would on XP, with a decrease in the amount of clicks it takes to get something done.

VistaPhotoGallery

The Windows Vista revamped image and fax viewer now called the Photo Gallery. What's nice about this little program is that it has a couple of nice features such as photo cropping, red eye fixing, color adjustments, exposure adjustments and a good bit more. Now you shouldn't need an external photo editing application unless your looking for a more expansive set of features.

Also notice that their are even more things to do with your images via the top menu bar. You can burn the image, email the image and make a movie with the image. A really cool program for minimal photo editing!

This is the new search tool found within Vista. In the top right I have typed in .jpg and without pressing enter, Windows automatically searched for all files with a .jpg extension. The search feature as I have seen so far is extremely fast. As long as you leave Indexing on, the Search feature should never be a pain to use.

VistaStartMenu

The revamped start menu. The start menu has been completely redesigned and no longer requires a ton of sidebars to get to a specific program. All of the programs housed within the start menu show up within the main menu bar. Microsoft has also introduced the search bar directly into the Start Menu so that in case you forgot where a particular program is located you can type in the first few letters and the program should appear as the first program in the list.

The new start menu is a blast to use and is a major advancement over the previous version.
