Clyde Valley Windfarm
The windfarm is split into three sections only the middle section is being constructed at this time. So the vast array of turbines stretching into the distance has yet to begin.

Look at the previous photos ive taken in my photos to compare what this looked like before the work started. The forest was not cut down for the wood but to stop turbulence affecting the windturbines.

Clyde Valley Windfarm
The building of it is under way with roads cut in the hillside and bases for the towers prepared, They got problems due to interferance with airtraffic radar control, They cant put the blades on till April because of this.

The Lowther Hills just behind the hill centre Green Lowther is Wanlockhead at 1656ft high above sea level Scotlands highest village. This range of rocks are Ordovician and this pic is slightly N/W. The gold rivers all the other side of the hills seen run from centre to the left the Mennock the richest gold river. To the right Glengonnar the poorest river for goldpanning. To the N/W runs the Wanlock water . There are quite a few gold rivers the other side of these hills but no gold rivers have yet been found this side of the hills. The rocks Im photograhing from is Silurian shale. There is some good mineralisation a few hundred yards away of galena and other minerals in quartz that is quite often red to pink.

Windfarm travesty. In three years this will not look like this. Windturbines 550ft high will be planted on the ridge on the tree covered range on the right . it will follow the ridge toElvanfoot. That is hidden in the photo in the fold of land below the green hill centre. The hill range on the right with the grass(yellow) slash will continue the turbines to Abington up the M74 motorway that wends it way throught these hills to just over middle picture going left.
So two thirds of this picture will in future be windturbines. This picture will be a memory to another world .

Windfarm travesty. In the centre is Tomont Hill . The original plans had 14 windturbines from this spot along this ridge up Tomont. The revised plans have the turbines start 600 yards away on this ridge . In fact you will be able to see the biggest clump of turbines in the approx 200 windfarm scheme in this spot. As the plans have three arcs of turbines from this ridge going right to Lions Mane Ridge on the right. The turbines go from Tomont along the ridges to Elvanfoot and cross over the motorway to the distant tree covered range that is seen on the left third of the pic. It then follows the valley ridge to Abington 9 miles away. To the right is Wintercleuch Fell which will also be covered in turbines to Sweetshaw Brae where low and behold the Ae forest windfarm starts. Note also all the forest have to go as they interfere with the air flow to the turbines.

Windfarm travesty. In just three years time this will be a memory.From the mountain on the right Wedder Law to Sweetshaw Brae on the left will be wall to wall windturbines 550ft high. The Southern Upland Way goes across the dam top on the right and passes throught these mountains to the left middle on the way to Moffat. I will repeat these photo,s when the descaration has come to pass to illustrate the rape of Scottish beauty. It does not stop here this is just the Ae or Harestanes windfarm (they keep changing the name to confuse objectors) but follow up photo,s will show from the left the range of hills completly from the left for the next ten miles to be wall to wall with turbines in the Clyde Valley windfarm. Just above the trees on the left is the border with the Borders and so technically making this two windfarms such is the machinations in twisted planning.
