A scientist sets out to garner fame by combining the sperm of a rat into the ovum of a monkey and produces a hybrid creature with fangs and claws containing enough poison to kill a man in a few seconds. With the creature contained, the delusional scientist plans to transport the rat-monkey to a genetics congress for further study and the possibility of winning a Nobel Prize.

Meanwhile a New York photographer is on the same Caribbean island with some hot models doing a photo shoot and panic arises when people start turning up dead. When one of the models fails to return home her worried family sends her sister try and find out what is going on. She teams up with a man at the airport (The Beyond's David Warbeck) and they take it upon themselves to investigate the murders which eventually leads them to the scientist's home, where the real terror begins.

Measuring in at the micro midget size of 2' 4¼",the Ratman is played by Nelson de la Rosa, "Guiness Book of World Records” holder as the smallest man in the world. With his squeaks and scurrying around, the creepy little man is one of the most perfect casting choices in the history of film.

so, saw this pool. went over to contemplate taking a pic. couple groups of people scattered about, talking quietly among themselves. seemed like everyone enjoying this almost supernatural tranquility. the pool had a cut in step at the edge, so one could sit and let the legs hang a bit lower. i did. thinking of how to compose a shot and how the hell to hold the camera steady in such complete darkness. when. as i sat. and put my feet down. the right landed on concrete - the left...well, a bit of a blur, it happened so fast. seemed to land on an amorphous mass which quickly shifted under my foot, then suddenly a tugging on my pants, then higher (no, not still @ soi cowboy). then sharp claws scratched across my bare arms and it jumped to safety - i suppose the rat the size of a relatively fat cat was scared of me as i put at least half 170 lbs on its back, but really, it had the upper hand (or claw, as it may be). therefore, the pic isn't all it could be. after screaming (thankfully in a choked yowl, rather than a little-girl-wetting-her pants-scream that i am certainly capable of), every group of people turned and stared at the lumpy farang yelping. ahh, the noisy american. i squeaked out "rat. big..." and no one seemed to care, so i took a pic and quickly got the hell out
