Hi,
it's f-spot for almost everything, from importing, croping, archiving and exporting. I'm not so big fan of extensive photo editing, so I use a gimp just in some special cases.

You are going to get used to it :) I was switching from PS to GIMP in my daily work for a month ago, without missing anything. That was after using GIMP for a long while though, but I know how different (and difficult) everything seemed in the beginning.

Thanks, Iko! - So it's just your choice of not using a (slower) mouse based interface... ! Interesting! I do like the console sometimes as well... ! It's great to do special things that are limited in programs... - I just asked because the import in digikam is very configurable :)

gPhoto2 is a command-line-tool to fetch/delete photos/info from a camera. I've written a small bash-script that would download the photos from camera into the right folder (YEAR-MONTH), delete the photos from camera, use "renrot" to rotate and rename the photos (Date) based on EXIF-information from each photo. So I just need to start that bash and do nothing else.

- gphoto2 for importing from my camera
- digikam for managing the photos on my hd
- GIMP for editing
- jUploader (23-edition) for uploading to 23

I also use GIMP, UFRaw, Hugin, and Cinepaint, but I find I am doing more and more of my organizing, resizing, and tagging with command line tools like dcraw, ImageMagick, and exiftool, all put together in a script that utilizes Xdialog for user input.

I'm still debating with myself whether or not to flesh out this approach more, or go with something more sophisticated like Photo Organizer that utilizes the above mentioned tools in combination with a database backed website.

I also make heavy use of XNview, which is not open-source but seems to fit well with my workflow patterns.

Ah! That is a thread that I had also in mind :) Thanks for starting!

I use Linux (KDE, Ubuntu) - So nearly all my software is OpenSource. But most of it is also available for different systems like Windows or MacOS.

To download and archive the photos I use the KDE-software "digikam". In the moment "digikam" is only available for Linux. Digikam has a small editor called "ShowFoto" which is my main viewer for Photos with some great ability to do some first-editing on images. - I am a big fan of converting to monochrome in the moment and nearly always use the overview for the automatic correction to compare possibilities. - I think digikam might be able to upload directly to 23 in the future...

For more editing ofcourse The Gimp is needed. I often save several layers as pictures made with digikam and import them in Gimp. Gimp has this big shortage not to be able to handle RAW-images (I use digikam or the ufraw-plugin).

For HDR and other tone mapping ofcourse I use qtpfsgui as well... But did not try much hugin so far...

qtpfsgui for HDR images
hugin/autopano for panorama photos

I think, that was all, I'm a linux (ArchLinux) user as well.... :-)
