The first Autocom Pro system was launched back in 1992 and instantly became recognised as being by far the very best on-bike audio communications system available. Our Pro systems have always set the standards every independent back to back test for the past 15 years continually confirms Autocom is still "WAY AHEAD of even our closest competitors" so we are sure our latest and greatest 2009 version will exceed all your expectations and keep you impressed for many years to come. Designed to work on any bike at any speed with or without earplugs and built to last. The Autocom Kit SP-A comes with 5 Aux connections as standard, plus a choice of optional leads and/or Bluetooth wireless modules lets you simply add any other accessories such as; bike to bike or GPS etc to suit your needs as and when required. The stereo music fader and automatic volume control sets this system apart from the other systems. Included in Autocom SP-A Duo kit 1 x 2015Super Pro Automatic Unit 1 x 2110Complete Pro Rider Headset 1 x 2113Complete Pro Passenger Headset 2 x 2138Coiled Headset Leads 1 x 2422Deluxe bike fitting kit with holders 1 x 2176Standard Phone Lead 1 x 2245Stereo Music Lead Unique Features • Ultra high quality, plug-in, noise cancelling boom microphones included with Autocoms noise cancelling headsets • Do an incredible job of picking up your speech while rejecting the maximum amount of undesirable ambient helmet noise. The precision tuned ports at both front and rear of the ultra compact microphone/s, ensure that the surrounding noise effects the diaphragm equally from both sides and effectively cancels itself out (anti-phasing), whereas the users speech is directed mainly into just the one side, producing a superior speech signal in relation to a minimal noise pick up, and this design works far better than any other type of microphone used in a noisy environment. • Independent tuned active noise reduction filters with speech boost Tuned active filter system • Work together with the noise cancelling microphones to ensure even less noise is amplified through the system or speakers (typically rejecting 99% noise at 70mph and 95% at 100mph), while also boosting speech for optimum high speed clarity and use up to 180mph. • Independent rider and passenger voice activation circuits (I-VOX) • Independent VOX sensitivity controls for each user reliably turns each microphone 100% off while not speaking to ensure that ZERO noise is amplified through the speakers. This not only reduces riding fatigue but also means that all other audio such as bike-to-bike, GPS, phone and stereo music etc are completely free from any additional amplified noise. • Automatic self-sensing and adjusting VOX level control (A-VOX) • Uses a tiny noise sensor in the rider’s headset to detect the varying noise conditions and automatically adjust the volume and VOX levels to suit. • Logical, mixing and control with 5 Aux connections • For; bike-to-bike, stereo GPS, riders stereo phone, passengers stereo phone, stereo music, etc. For more information please see the section below "Intelligent Audio, Wireless & Power Control". • Optional single or twin stereo Bluetooth wireless module/s • For wireless connection of stereo phone/GPS/music etc via Aux 2, 3, 4 or 5. Uniquely designed for plug and go by getting the power directly from the main hub unit. • Side-tone • Gives you the benefit of letting you hear your own voice clearly which helps you to naturally speak at the correct level according to varying helmet noise conditions, and this avoids unnecessary shouting that non-side-tone products normally suffer. Side-tone also provides you with important audio confirmation of correct VOX set-up and use, which improves rider to passenger communications as well as hands free voice activated bike-to-bike radio use. What you hear you know they will be hearing. Without side tone you simply cannot know this. • Full duplex • Allows both rider and passenger to speak naturally and freely and at the same time, either to each other or while on the phone. With full duplex there is no need to wait for a break, or "over!" Important local information can be communicated instantly and effortlessly at all times, e.g., "watch out for that truck" etc., even while using any other inputs. Important rider-to- passenger communications are never interrupted or lost while using any other features. • Independent rider and passenger master volume controls • Lets you manage the sound levels independently to each headset, making it ideal for use with or without earplugs or any combination. Each control is colour coded for easy identification at a glance. • Independent high quality stereo amplifiers • Provides high quality stereo reproduction to each stereo headset. • High power, super slim, stereo speakers • Ergonomically designed for maximum comfort, high quality speakers deliver all the sound you need for use with or without earplugs. • High quality, robust, water resistant headset lead and connectors • Designed to quick release in an emergency, with large orientation markings to ease alignment, even with gloves on. • 12 months manufacturers warranty • With options to extend the manufacturers warranty to two or three years, for a small addition cost when you register your new product details directly to the UK factory using the reply form on the back of the instruction manuals or via email within 14 days of the original purchase date. *Some phones may require a personal hands free adaptor. Intelligent Audio, Wireless & Power Control • Aux 1 - Intelligent Audio Input - designed for Bike-to-Bike • Both rider and passenger can use an optional bike-to-bike radio connected to the hub, activated via the I-VOX system, providing easy and safe hands free use without losing the rider to passenger communications or any other functions. If you bike power your hub you can also bike power recommended bike-to-bike radios. Take advantage of the optional handlebar remote control to disable the VOX transmit mode providing privacy for rider-to-passenger communications, and then transmit bike-to-bike messages at any time by either pressing the press-to-talk (PTT) button, or toggle back to the normal VOX transmit mode. When the phone is in use and disables the VOX transmit function, the remote control PTT button lets you over-ride this so that you can transmit to other bikes even when on the phone. Incoming bike to bike audio on Aux 1 on either hub automatically reduces the stereo music level on both hubs Aux 4 to 50% to improve speech clarity. • Aux 2 - Intelligent Audio Input - designed for Stereo GPS • A GPS can be connected to the hub using an optional interface lead to suit, or if your GPS unit transmits Bluetooth, by using the optional integral stereo Bluetooth wireless interface. Incoming GPS audio on Aux 2 automatically reduces the stereo music on Aux 4 by 50% for improved GPS clarity. Note; you can use some phones via some GPS units, but in most cases you lose the important GPS audio and safety camera warnings while using the phone through a GPS. This is why we provide separate GPS stereo connectivity and separate phone connectivity to manage this better for you. • Aux 3 - Intelligent Audio Input - designed for Rider`s Stereo Phone • Incoming audio is amplified only to the rider’s headset, but can be switched for both rider and passenger use. Incoming audio automatically cuts the stereo music on Aux 4 by 100% and reduces bike-to-bike audio on Aux 1, plus reduces the stereo GPS audio on Aux 2 to 50% to improve phone conversation; while at the same time it also disables the bike-to-bike VOX transmit mode to prevent your phone conversation been broadcast to other bikes. *Some phones may require a hands free adaptor. • Aux 4 - Intelligent Audio Input - designed for Stereo Music • Automatic gain control compensates for varying noise/speed conditions and the stereo audio can be faded between the rider and passenger headsets. Rider and passenger speech plus audio from Aux 1 and 2 automatically reduce the stereo music on Aux 4 to 50%, while audio from Aux 3 fully cuts the music for improved conversations (auto reduction and/or auto gain control can be switched off for improved earplug use). • Aux 5 - Intelligent Audio Input - designed for Passenger`s Stereo Phone • Incoming audio is amplified only to the passenger`s headset, but can be switched to both rider and passenger. Incoming audio has no effect to any other Aux connections so that the passenger can enjoy their own stereo music without disruption to other inputs or outputs. We recommend using the optional remote PTT if using a bike-to-bike radio, so that you can manually disable the VOX transmit mode when the passenger is using their phone. • Optional remote Single or Twin Stereo Bluetooth Modules • Connects into Aux 2, 3,4 or 5. Each of the stereo Bluetooth modules lets you connect wirelessly to one or two Bluetooth devices, so long as one is using hands free profile (such as a mobile phone or GPS, etc) and the other uses advanced audio profile (A2DP, such as stereo devices, mp3 players, etc). The twin Bluetooth module lets you connect to between 1 and 4 Bluetooth devices. These external modules simply plug into the hub and pairing is easy and reliable, and once done automatic each time you use the system. Each Bluetooth module can be independently set to have the same effects as incoming audio on either Aux 2 or 3. • Intelligent Power Control • For mile-after-mile of fuss-free use. Simply get on, plug-in and ride. No batteries, no chargers and no worries. The system automatically turns on and off via the bikes ignition and built in noise suppression helps to prevent any electrical noise from the bike entering the system. The optional deluxe two-part power lead with water resistant in-line connection makes it easy to bike mount under the seat or use in a tank-bag. Thermal overload and reverse polarity protection together with an in-line fuse all help to protect your investment and let you enjoy a trouble free long life experience. • Intelligent VOX with Ultra High Quality Rider and Passenger Headsets • When either person speaks, the I-VOX system automatically turns only their microphone on, reduces the stereo music and transmitting the bike-to-bike radio, for safer hands free use. When you stop speaking the microphone automatically turns off and the music gently glides back to its normal level. High quality, robust, water resistant, connectors and leads are custom designed for easy, safe and comfortable use and quick release in an emergency. Built to last but also easy to service or replace. Optional neat on-bike rubber socket holders with water resistant dust caps provide that professional finishing touch. *some phones may require a headset adaptor to suit the standard phone lead 2.5mm plug (available from Autocom and most phone shops

Installation
Fitting to Motorcycles
When fitting to bikes, do it in 3 separate steps
(1) Remove the headlight unit and do the fiddling around with the burners that way. Trying to fit the new burners without removing the headlight unit is a recipe for frustration swearing and skinned knuckles – and therefore misery. You will also need a 23-25 mm (1 inch) drill bit (you need to make a circular hole on the back of the headlight units two round caps.)
(2) Find where you want to locate the ballasts, and mount them – make sure they are close enough to the headlights for the cables to reach – it’s near impossible to extend them Others have chosen different locations. There is no best answer. But do note that if you mount under the oil cooler on a GS or GSA, the forks “move forward” under compression, so the ballasts cannot project further back than that rear edge of the oil cooler. Some end up getting custom brackets made up for the ballasts, while my preferred option now that we have moved exclusively on to ultra-thin ballasts, is just to mount them with 3M VHB (Very High Bond) double sided tape or 3M VHB Dual Lock industrial Velcro or a small bracket that comes with the kits or cable ties. Everyone seems to find different locations to mount the ballasts and many ways to hold them in place. You have to be creative with motorbikes re ballasts mounting. There is always room though.
(3) Connect everything up. And power up !
Note that sometimes the kits come with slightly different wires that are nominated in the installation booklets. The booklets refer to red being positive and black negative. Usually that’s the case with the kits but occasionally I get kits with blue and black wires. In those examples, the black wire remains negative, and the blue wire is positive.
Here it is again in a bit more detail:
HID Conversion Kit Installation, for BMW motorcycles.
1. Remove Headlight unit from motorcycle, ensuring motorcycle is switched off. No need to remove battery.
2. Unscrew the plastic caps at the back of the housing that provide access to the bulbs.
3. In the centre of the two plastic caps that were removed earlier, drill a 23-25 mm (1 inch) hole (with a hole saw bit or a flat wood bit).
4. Unlatch the bulb retaining spring clip, and remove the old halogen bulbs. The plastic that holds the spring clips is brittle and prone to break. Be careful.
5. Pass the bulb and two wires with open spade connectors through the newly drilled out hole in each plastic cap until the rubber grommet is seated in the newly drilled hole.
6. Insert new HID bulbs, ensuring they are correctly aligned. Note that the 4 wires will slide back and forwards through the grommet. I advise that when you are fiddling around getting the bulb in, that you pull as much wire to the bulb side of the grommet as possible to avoid skinned knuckles and excess frustration. When seating the new bulbs, the H1 is hard to get wrong, but the H7 is easily gotten wrong. Make sure the bulbs are correctly seated before closing the bulb retaining spring clip, again taking care not to damage the poorly made housing around the base of the spring clip.
7. Connect the spade connectors up to the motorcycle’s headlight power. (see 8 and 9 below for H7 and H1 respectively)
8. The spade connectors attach to the contact block that previously plugged into the back of the bulb. On a H7 kit, the brown BMW wire (negative) needs to lead to the black spade connector wire (negative). And the white or yellow BMW wire (positive) needs to connect to the blue or red spade connector wire (positive).
9. On a H1 kit, the BMW earth is plugged to the headlight housing and needs to be removed before connecting to the black spade connector. They may need to be crimped together with a pair of pliers if they are different shapes. The wire that connected to the H1 bulb is the positive and needs to be connected to the blue or red wire’s spade connector.
10. Plug the wires that come from the bulb into ballasts with the “its impossible to plug in the wrong way” connectors and check the HIDs have been wired up correctly by turning the appropriate lights on. Note both ballasts in the kit are identical, so you do not need to pair a particular ballast with a particular bulb.
11. Close up the headlight unit by screwing back in the plastic caps. Note that the 4 wires will slide back and forwards through the grommet. It is advisable to pull out excess wire from the headlight housing as you close the unit, to avoid having too much crowded wiring inside the cramped headlight housing. Similarly, I advise that when you are fiddling around getting the bulb in, that you pull as much wire to the bulb side of the grommet as possible to avoid skinned knuckles and excess frustration.
12. Next stage … mounting the ballasts. It’s really up to each individual to mount ballasts and a number of different brackets and locations are possible. Make sure the ballasts are mounted so that their cables can comfortably reach the appropriate bulbs. The ultrathin kits are can be screwed or the supplied brackets or cable ties used or otherwise attached to a flat clean surface. Increasingly, my mounting of choice is to use 3M double sided tape or Dual Lock industrial Velcro or cable ties unless they come with small brackets that can be bolted on to a inside fairing etc. See below for more info on industrial Velcro, and note the first 3 pictures have Ultra Thin HID ballasts attached with Dual Lock industrial Velcro or a bracket and cable ties.
Note: BMW’s have unique wire colors.
White wire : high beam positive
Yellow wire : low beam positive
Brown wires : earth (negative)
Ballast location examples

In the photo above, the two headlight ballasts are attached to the top of the headlight unit using nothing but small patches of Dual Lock with the picture on the right and bottom having the ballast units on a custom bracket. On most bikes ‘more on a GS’ there is space either side of the front forks and cable tying the ballasts in is my preferred method.
Fitting
If you don’t fancy fitting your own HID set, we can fit your HIDs to your headlights.
Note that we do not claim to be legal experts and can give no advice as to the legality of operating any HID conversion (55 watt) or any other lighting modification due to the widely varying road regulations in different regions and countries. Anyone who does claim to be able to give you any definitive answer is talking through his/her hat. As with any aftermarket accessory, its up to the buyer to
Note: Some headlight reflectors designed for halogen bulbs do not react well to the HID light and occasionally after prolonged use, some marking of the reflectors may occur. Fitment of HID conversions and any associated after-effects are solely the responsibility of the buyer.
