Col de Bœufs is the connection between Cirque de Mafate and Cirque de Salazie where you can park your car to start your hike into Mafate. From this point you have a fantastic view into both Cirques.</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0px;">This shot shows Cirque de Salazie where you can see the parking area on the very left, on the right is Hell-Bourg, which is a small village in the Cirque. After looking a long time towards east, we turned around and looked directly to the west and had this beautiful view at Grand Bénare 2898m (9507 ft). It's possible to do the trail as a two-day hike with an overnight stay at the Gîte de la Caverne Dufour and to do the summit in the very early morning hours. We started at 03:00 AM at the Gîte to be on time at the summit for the sunrise. Together with some other people we were on the summit to wait for the sunrise. So let's start with this shot which shows you the Grand Galet Falls or also named Langevin Falls. On the very right you can see Bonistock (mountain hut and restaurant). In the back you can see several high mountains, nearly all are about 3000m and higher. You have this view from Spitzfelsen if you look westwards, you can see Hausach and the Kinzig valley surrounded by all the mountains and summits.</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0px;">The Westweg leads you down to Hausach, just to go uphill directly after Hausach. On the right you can see the summit "Äußere Schwarze Schneid (3.255 m)", beneath to the summit is Gaislacher Lake. You can also see the summit of Nederkogel (3.163 m, nearly in the middle of the shot). Also Timmelsjoch is visible which is a high mountain pass that creates a link between Italy and Austria.
