It has three major beaches in its 17 km coastline, Lighthouse Beach, Hawah Beach, and Samudra Beach. The “lighthouse beach” is southernmost beach is the biggest beach; it got its name because of old Vizhinjam Lighthouse located on a 35 meter high on top of the Kurumkal hillock. It is most frequently reached by the outsiders and tourists. It is built by using the red colour stones and white bands and visitors can climb the spiral staircase inside at the top of the lighthouse tower and enjoy a spectacular view of height of 118 feet. Many hotels, shops, lodges are available here. There are many hotels, lodges; shops are available along the beaches to provide you the goods and services. These all beaches do not have so much distance you can visit all the three beaches on the same day. You can do surfing, and board surfing, boating with a wooden paddle boat, motor boat. You can buy little Tibet art from the market place.Sometimes ancient places and history gives us unforgettable memories, this trip to Kovalam is one of the best trips to beaches along with the historical places.
