I'm not a small person. I'm 6'2" tall and weigh 265 lbs. I worked in the construction business most of my life (among other jobs, sometimes three at one time), so that will give you some idea just how big Mr. Fuzzy actually is.

The Cat Pole!

That's Mr. Fuzzy up on top. The Cat Pole is something I built out of two cheap cat trees we bought at Walmart. It's securely bracketed to the false wall between our dining room (right) and our living room (left). As you can see, the wall ends just above the top of the pole. That has always been the cat's "up high" place, which they reached by climbing on bookcases and jumping. The Cat Pole is a safer, saner way for them to get up there, and also get some exercise and enjoyment from in its own right. You should see them come running in from the garage at full gallop and go straight up the pole to the top like it was nothing.

This is Miss Betty Rumble. She walked up to my wife one morning in a very busy commuter parking lot at a train station and asked to be adopted. My wife called me and I came and picked her up. We later learned she was born behind a store about two miles away, and she and her siblings had been cared for and fed by an employee at the store. She's not especially cuddly, but loves to sleep on the bed with me, and is determined to one day catch that damned red dot. She's so quick when we play the dot game that my wife and I joke that her "street name" was "Fast Betty Nimblepaws".

Sun, 08 Jan 2017 04:02:55 GMT

This is Mr. Fuzzy, AKA: Weazie, AKA: His Royal Fuzzyness Prince Weasious the First (you may kiss the paw). We generally call him Fuzzybutt, though Weazie is the name he came with. He's a full blooded Maine Coon who happened to be the runt of the litter, and never really gained weight. We found out later this was due to a problem with a portion of his intestines that has since been surgically corrected.

We got Mr. Fuzzy through an ad on Freecycle (like Craigslist but everything is free). The gentleman we got him from said he'd been bought as a gift for his grown daughter but shortly afterwards his daughter had to move back in with him, and Mr. Fuzzy was not getting along with the 12 year old cat they already had. To top things off, they were renovating the house and it was just too dangerous to have him underfoot. So, on a dark and stormy night (really, it was - it was pouring, and well after midnight) I met the man in the parking lot of a nearby home improvement store and brought him home. That was 8 years and two stomach surgeries ago, and he's now grown a lot (he's over 4 feet long from the tip of his tail) but barely weighs 8 lbs. Our vet says he's fine, but my wife and I wouldn't mind if he put on a pound or two.

This is Kimmy K. Katt, another rescue from the local animal shelter. She's about 9 months old now, growing like a weed, and a complete toy hog. All this little girl wants to do is play fetch or catch the red dot, or lay on mommy and get pets and chin rubs. She's also completely addicted to butter.

This is Rupert G. Belvedere. He was a rescue from the local animal shelter and is about 5 years old. He's a big cat, weighing in at 14 lbs., but very, very mild mannered and affectionate. This is what we call his "comfy bed".
