Have I said that before? Doesn&#39;t it go without saying by now?..You really get to know a set of mountains when you have to hike &lt;em&gt;around&lt;/em&gt; them. Fortunately, in the middle of these death marches, I was able to stop and drink in some of the scenery. It took a lot longer than necessary to get to the destination, but at least I arrived with a camera full of photos. That beautiful peak in the distance is Fitz Roy. I was very lucky to see it, because 90% of the time it&#39;s covered with clouds...So, last night something else lucky happened! Not too bad because the scenery is beautiful...ISO 400, 135mm, f5.6, 1/1000, shot from a relatively fast moving bus. Processed in Photomatix first, which gave it the strong yellow tones. Used Nik Tonal Contrast and Pro Contrast and dodge, burn and desaturation in PS...I haven&#39;t been active on flickr for the last few days because I&#39;ve been updating my machine to run Windows 7. I was using XP, and everything had slowed down to a crawl, so I needed to wipe the disk clean and start over. So, Windows 7 it is. I had to re-install everything from scratch: Photoshop, LIghtroom, Photomatix, Nik, Noiseware, Xrtie I1, the Lightroom catalog, get al lthe updates, etc. Quite a job, but I am ahppy to say that so far everything works and faster. The Fed-Ex Forum is an amazing facility. I think it looks like a great place to go watch games. The surrounding downtown area is also very cool... seems like it would be a great way to spend a night out. I&#39;ve never been in Memphis on game night, but I&#39;ll be sure to make that happen some time!..Also I got to go back in the locker room and meet some of the players. The guys were so nice and affable... I couldn&#39;t get over it. I don&#39;t know what I expected, but they were just all really young nice dudes. And then I saw this little underwater rehab/training facility. It was really wide and had this conveyor belt that ran under water. I asked why it was so wide and was told it was originally used for horse rehab! It&#39;s really gorgeous and dreamy under there, as you can tell. This area has all kinds of sharks and other wild-lookin&#39; things that were swimming all around me. ..I was fortunate enough to take a private tour of the place thanks to the nice people at the MGM/Mirage management company, who also owns the Mandalay Bay. That allowed me to take the time I needed to set up this 5-exposure HDR shot without tourists getting in the way...One time I did find a nurse shark in the Caribbean. It was a baby. I followed it for a while until it occurred to me that it might be swimming back to its mom. That sudden realization made me turn around pretty quick...All of this underwater stuff reminds me of watching those Discovery channel shows about strange ocean creatures. I swear I could watch those things all day. I can&#39;t get over how some of these things have evolved to fit their environment... just amazing. My favorite creatures are cephalopods ...
