Most of it is baroque, only the romanesque tower is left from before Thirty Years War, but there was a church in this place since the time Magnus built the first chappel and cell.
Magnus is for the Allgaeu very much the same as Saint Paddy for the Irish. Just some prozelytizing monk well enough in shape to travel around and impress some natives into getting baptized rather than disposing of him likely, but made into the biggest varmint destroyer of the nation by adding legend after legend to the enormous vita. In the church hangs his hiking stick, and up to the 19th century it was used in religious processions against all kinds of little critters, as sort of spiritual pesticide.
