I drove across Canada one winter, made it a point to visit
Portage & Main, they don't call it Winterpeg for nothing!

Ha! Yes, Winnipeg does get pretty darn cold during the winter months. I live in southern Saskatchewan, where it typically doesn't get as cold, but we get the winds. Know why it's so windy in Saskatchewan? Because Alberta blows and Manitoba sucks. LOL!!

Maybe you'll get a chance to take another drive during the summer. The prairies are beautiful during the late summer, when the crops in the fields are almost ready for harvesting. The patchwork colours are spectacular.

One of the states calls itself Big Sky Country but to me all of the
prairies are Big Sky Country. Driving across one summer I was
really struck by how oppressive the low-hanging clouds were,
I got out of the car to take some photographs but they really
didn't capture the sensation.

Don't worry, things should get warmer, I hear there's a huge
amount of hot air that will be coming up from the South.

You got that right! For the past week, we've been enjoying temperatures on the plus side; broke a few records, I'm told. A lot of our snow has melted already.

We're supposed to drop back down to the freezing side this weekend, but nothing compared to the cold temps we've had during December and the beginning of January. So, it was nice to get a bit of relief. The chickens are also enjoying the milder weather; our egg production is back up again.
