How do you drink it?

After a little conversation with rugen about tea drinking habits in Ostfriesenland, I thought I will start a thread on the subject here, for whoever may come around.
I wonder how people drink tea in different places and if there is something special that they eat with it.
My drinking habits are those of an addict. Basically, a plain mug of black or green, four to eight times a day. Sometimes even more. Perhaps an infusion would have served me better.

Nice idea, inkscar. I already told the way East Frisian drink tea. I wrote about me drinking most often Darjeeling with somewhat sugat. Completing I must admit drinking up to two litre during the day. ;-)

I must say that most days it would be not more than a liter, but it is a fact that I consume a lot. Just recently began to drink green tea after trying chun mee, so now I at least mix them.
I don't think that many will take part in a tea group, but let's see.

I have to watch my black tea amount... vegetarian. But I drink either tea in the morning preferably with milk and honey or after supper to relax.
Sometimes even fast-drink from Tim Hortons.

It takes iron, somehow or it minimize the resorbtion of iron into the body... and vegetarian have to watch the iron level in their blood.

Hi everybody
And inkscar, this doesn’t reply to your question regarding being vegetarian and the amount of caffeine you must take
Just I am glad I joined the group and I think this is a great idea for a thread. So here my two cents. I drink my teas mostly black, without sugar or milk, occasionally with a good strong breakfast tea I might add some milk.
You like the rest of you, I drink about 4 to 8 cups per day, in the morning and early afternoon I usually drink 2 or 3 cups of just a good Ceylon tea, or some breakfast blend: my favorite lately is a mixture of Yunnan and Assam teas, this mixture in the morning is guaranteed to wake up the dead! Then I ‘transition’ to a cup of Rooibos or Green tea, I do prefer Japanese green teas than Chinese, I find Japanese teas like Sencha or Gyokuro (this one tastes so vegetable-like!) I like these teas for having lunch with…
And then later during the day, I drink either more Rooibos tea, is the only herbal tea that I feel stops the cravings for more black tea, without having the caffeine… of course many days I am bad and drink black strong tea after 5pm… usually I don’t add anything to my cup of tea (or coffee for that matter, OK I am guilty of drinking 1 cup of black coffee in the mornings sometimes too!)
I live in the USA and fortunately I am able to order excellent teas online, to a very affordable price and with an unbelievable collection of teas from all over the world, I hope somebody else that lives in the USA finds this site as useful as me, although I think is affordable to order from Europe as well

cheers!

tridymite: I think I have read that iron absorption is inhibited but to a degree. I guess one should always apply moderation in just about anything, you are right. I am not a vegetarian but I eat meat very, very rarely. Unfortunately, I am bad at tea moderation.
bere: I used to drink predominantly black tea, plain. I recently discovered one kind of green (chun mee) which I for once liked, as previously I did not like green, and this is currently my staple. I still make balck tea - ceylon, african CTC, and some aromatic blends.
Thanks for the link! Will have a look. Here in Germany it greatly depends on which area one lives in. In East Frisia, where rugen is, there is a well established tea tradition (in fact, here in shops, one can buy East Frisian tea - as it is called - which is a strong ceylon/assam kind). Where I live, tea drinking is not exactly popular, so it took me quite some time to find a shop that I would like. I buy tea mostly at Teegschwendner (www.teagschwendner.com). The do have an online shop and also a US site, so you might give them a look, but for online ordering they are a bit expensive if one lives outside their countries of operation. Not sure.

When I was a teen and twen I didn't drink much coffee but tea, exclusively. These days I love both... but I don't drink as much tea as I used to, I might try to get back into the habit with adding more green tea.
I like
- plain Darjeeling 2nd flush, eventually Queen-Elizabeth-style (I read somewhere that she prefers the tea of a single estate in Darjeeling, and there is always one tablespoon of sugar to one liter of tea (added while steeping) - I tried this and it adds a special layer of flavor).
- green tea, hot and without sugar, cold and without sugar - iced sugarfree green tea is my no 1 drink in SE asia and has helped me through a few terrifyingly hot days in Thailand
- green tea with lemon or grapefruit flavoring. Although I am not into flavored teas, this is rather refreshing as iced tea
- iced tea: a simple cup of PG Tips, brewed freshly, on ice, a dash of lemon juice, a little sugar - great. (canned iced tea: yuck)
I like decent Ceylon tea, a nice and warming Assam in winter (there is a traditional blend in Hamburg with pure bourbon vanilla, which is quite good, even East Frisian style ;)). For some time I preferred Sikkim tea...
The green tea "blossoms" are a very stylish way to devour green tea, watch the flower open in your cup, and drink yourself to Zen.
inkscar Oh yeah, African CTC - there used to be a good one from Tanzania in the local fair trade store. And the health food store has a wonderful green Darjeeling.

hola dear dhania, i finally made it here
thanks for all the tea recommendations! i am both a coffee and tea drinker too! early morning i must drink black coffee, but during the day pretty much i drink tea the whole day and no water so i appreciate your recommendations
and on the green tea blossoms, i have a picture that i uploaded a while ago under Cybil's account here
http://www.23hq.com/Cybil/photo/2807172/view-large
also, i don't like flavored teas either, but i just found a mix here in California of White Peony tea with peach flavor, the peach is very mild and just makes the tea slightly sweeter, a great mix!
now i go to make myself a cup of green sencha tea, thanks for sharing your teaness too ;)
