It may be only me, but I find that not being allowed capital letters and/or special characters is sometimes a bit difficult.
I just tried to tag a few photos V&A and ended up with va. Then I tried VandA and ended up vanda.
vanda won't make sense even to me in a couple of months.
Anyone else finding it annoying?

I haven't yet encountered the issue with special characters. I do feel disappointed every time I see my tags lowercased, and I'd also prefer for tags to have an order. Much information is lost when sorting tags alphabetically...

If I recall... flickr handles this by preserving your typed version (and re-displaying that in the interface)... but it still does a lot of this optimization and tag-management stuff in the background for the indexed version.
I haven't run into it myself really, but I can see how it could be frustrating in some special cases, or in languages where case carries more importance than others.
