Very nice with all the sunny gorse and heather in bloom!

I try to imagine living in these places when they were built. My brain cannot fathom. I don't think it was like they show in the movies, but hard none the less. How to be in such a beautiful place with such hardships. Confuses me.

Beautiful photo of this place. Do you ever wander into the old buildings?

Many thanks, Fizgig.
I often forget about groups. I will have to see if I have added other photos to groups!
Duly added to Architectural marvels!

Thank you Laura.
Yes, its difficult but the mine ruins help to fill in the picture. That is the problem with places like Cornwall. Often extreme poverty was the lot of the people; you can't eat scenery!
They had mining, fishing and a little bit of farming, nearly all gone now. All that is left is tourism and that fluctuates with the currency and and is seasonal. So not much money about. Cornwall receives a lot of subsidy from Europe. And for the most part they voted for Brexit. THAT is what I can't figure out!

Referenda do not always invite careful consideration. Often unsettling emotions seem to lurk us in doing so. Populists make grateful use of this. In spite of all that, a nice view, Andy

Lovely photo, Andy. The building ruins is most interesting and those flowers are beautiful. I love this scene!

Of course you are quite right, remmelt and it was more of a protest vote combined with worry about immigration. I shan't here give my views on the latter point; we don't have the time or space for that but suffice it to say that when the referendum result became known and I had to go out of my flat that day, I did so with an incredible feeling of shame and with my head hung very low.

Many thanks, BJW!

Hi Andy, here I am again, still admiring your shots of this mine, always tempting me to go find some more of my own old shots too. Great job.

Cheers, Herb

Thanks Herb!
Yes, why not upload some more of yours?
I would be fascinated to see them again and the others, as would other 23 members, I'm sure!
Best wishes,
Andy
