In my profile, I have Show email = No. Today I received a spam email from someone who obviously obtained my address from my 23hq profile. I know this because I encode my email address in such a way that I can tell where it was obtained (Steffen, check my profile and you will see what I mean). Anyway, I'm curious to know how it happened. Could I have revealed the address by sending a "personal message" to another 23hq user?

Yeah, I think your email is being used as the sender address when posting personal messages -- but it should be the only place. I wonder whether we should change this...?

I just sent you a personal messages to test this. On meetthegimp.org (where I have sent and received personal messages), personal messages are sent by info@meetthegimp.org, and you reply by clicking a link in the message that takes you back to the site. So your email address is never revealed.
