Removing geotagging info

Hi, I just realised, after uploading a photograph with embedded coordinates, that I did not care for that info in that particular photo. So I removed the EXIF information and replaced the photo (via ".../replace"), and then removed the location information from the tags. But interestingly enough, the map still shows up?

I suspect this information is cached in a database and is not dynamically updated. 23 can tell you if it will ever update, but my guess is it will not.

Think it's a bug where the cached or denormalized version of the location isn't updated correctly -- might have happened from using the batch tag editor rather than just clicking delete next to a tag although I'm unsure.
For the easy solution: Go to the photo and add geotags manually. Then delete them. That should teach the photo and 23 in general not to mess with you!
If it doesn't work, drop me a link here to the photo or photos, and I will make sure to have the problem fixed.

Hm, I did delete the tags manually, not via the batch editor. But the workaround with re-adding manual geotags and then removing them again worked, thanks. :-)
Edit: just noticed the photo info page ('.../meta') is not updated as well. So I guess the replacement function does not re-scan any info about the picture. So if I want to force 23 to update all info, I have to actually remove and add it again. Bummer.

That is correct.
"When you replace a photo all meta data is maintained -- including exif data, upload date, tags, descriptions, albums and photogroups. So it isn't a bug; although you could consider it a limitation."
