I noticed today that people have the option to share my photos on Facebook?!? Even without an acct. this option is available.... How do I disable that? I do NOT want my photos shared by just anyone anywhere.
Thanks....

Yeah, it's a make or break thing for me, too.... If there is no way to turn off this sharing thing, I'm looking elsewhere for hosting of my 5K+ photos.

Enter the following to the custom CSS textbox:
.sidebar-item a.facebookicon { display:none !important; }

Thanks mprove.... That did work. So that's one issue fixed. Just seem like there should be a more obvious setting for this in the acct. options or something.
Granted with the sharing codes for photos not only visible, but usable by anyone (including non-members) people will still find a it easy to take off with people's images. I mean, there is absolutely no security feature here to prevent it --- a simple right click and there you are.
But, thank you for that Facebook fix! At least that is off the table =)

AFAIK the context click can only be disabled with JavaScrip. This is out of reach for us.
If you really want to prevent stealing then you should not put your photos online. Maybe ugly watermarking might stop some theft.

Yes, however it IS possible to make it very difficult for images to be taken off sites.... Have a look at DeviantArt's security features for example -- you have to practically be a programmer to get around their security when enabled for an image. I don't think anyone expects 100% security for their work, but SOME security would be nice ;) I mean, your comment is like saying "if you really don't want to get hit by a car, never leave your house".... Who would accept living like that in lieu of police officers? Just because thievery is common on photo sites does not mean we just have to accept it or live in isolation.... There are more options ;) I just wish I saw some of them being used on this site =\\

If you are not a coder nor know how to use the browser's debug window then you can still create screenshots.
Anyhow, you are right.

"If you are not a coder nor know how to use the browser's debug window then you can still create screenshots."
This is true if all someone is looking for is a lower resolution image (in terms of dimensions, not quality necessarily).... But most photo thieves want the high resolution images -- 1600px or higher. That's what security features on most photo sites aim to protect the theft of. A screen shot won't get you a photo that's, say, 3000px X 3000px.
Anyway, it's a moot point here as this site doesn't employ any such measures ;) And though this discussion has been active for many hours now, not one site admin. has stepped in to say anything different.

What is a custom CSS textbox?
It's found in the "themes" section of your acct. settings/prefs.

Thanks, Fizgig. I've found it now, but it doesn't seem to be working.

I also thought it wasn't working the first time I put the code in because it looked like it wasn't saving.... But then, I went to a diff't web browser on my computer and opened up one of the photos I've uploaded here and found that the FB sharing option was indeed gone.
So, maybe check it that way.... Or simply log off and open up one of your photos as a guest and check.

Don't know if this helps, but the FB blocking thing works for me, too.
Isisbridge, after you put .sidebar-item a.facebookicon { display:none !important; } in the CSS block, make sure you click the "Save Theme" button down below.

I was doing that, virtualsky, and it wasn't accepting it. But I get up next morning and facebook has gone. So it must have been delayed reaction.

I guess it is a local caching issue. A force reload usually does the trick for me. (Option-Reload). Log-out&in is not required.

So how do you turn off the action at the side, where it says 'more sizes for sharing'?
And how do I hide my EXIF information?

@Jaap
Go to Options>Theme>Custom CSS
You can enter plain cascading style sheet definitions that will be applied to your pages. This is the usual way for web design. You get full flexibility – once you know what you are doing. It is not end-user friendly, but extremely powerful.

@ mprove... I entered the CSS codes to eliminate the more sizes for sharing option which worked nicely... Thank you =)
Now, the thing is that I don't want to completely disable people's ability to see larger sizes of images..... Is there a way to set the size one would see of an image when they click on it from its main page via CSS? For instance, I'd like someone to be able to open up the main pg. of my image & be able to click on it to view it at the default large size dimensions (the one before 1K) but not have the sharing button available at the same time.
In short, the CSS code to remove the more sizes option also disabled the clicking on a photo to see it large option. I know with CSS it's not an all or nothing proposition, but I'm not a coder myself.... Any ideas?
Thank you for your time !!!

I don't believe that this has anything to do with your/our css. I've added it to my styles and the click/zoom to the image still works.
Instead I believe that the disables click/zoom to the image depends on the copyright status. Mine are cc and the user can click the image to see the maximum size. Yours are "© All Rights Reserved".

Hmm – frankly I don't know. e.g. this photo has a (c) but it can be clicked for zooming_ http://www.23hq.com/DougShepherd/photo/26548941

@ mprove : I think you're right.... Tested your theory and, indeed, it doesn't bring up a larger size when being clicked on either way. Sorry for the mixup! Not sure how I missed that.... Really should've caught it myself.
Thanks again!
Maybe is has to do with the settings in the acct. allowing people to see the original size? (for that image you noted in your second post I mean)....
