Only ever saw two together in England. Fine zoom!

I am sure hat they also breed in colonies there. A grey heron is not happy sitting on her egg without a neighbor to chat to or sqibble over nesting material with. I know several well-sized colonies around lake constance. This one is within eyesight of my deck and developed there since around 2008. At first it was just two pairs, by now it is a lot of nests with a noise to match.
