It is part of the glacial valley of the Rhine formed by the rim of the ice. The wetland in the middle was remade in 2005 long after it was drained for agricultural exploitation.
It is an organisation founded by Heinz Sielmann (Mr. Woodpecker, hope you know of him) that maintains this along with local farmer that want to produce ecological and also have a beautiful trail to get a little share in the Lake Constance tourism, as their Village got no lakeview behind the ridge.
