Love ginger cats! Judging by the cropped ear, I'm guessing she's been in a few scraps ,,,=^..^=,,,

Thanks for posting!

Appaloosa.... The cropped ear is a universal symbol signifying the animal has been spayed/neutered.... You'll see it used in virtually every country that has an active plan in place to control feral cat populations in a humane way.

@ Fizgig: I never knew that! Thanks for sharing that tidbit of information. I learn something new everyday :-)

Interestingly, that idea has not caught on here in North America.

Appaloosa.... The "SNIP" program is well-known in the USA... They have mobile vet. vehicles that go into neighborhoods as part of catch-n-release programs for feral cats. They're most notable in big cities, though, so if you don't live in one of those, you've probably had no occasion to come across them. The whole idea of catch-n-release programs started in North America ;) In most countries, the method of dealing with feral "pet" animals was catch and destroy --- in some countries that still is the only method of dealing with the man-made problem (AUS is a good example).

@ Fizgig: hm... that is interesting to learn, for sure!

I have never heard-- or read of - the "SNIP" program here in the USA (until now), let alone here in Canada. I am familiar of course, with those who are benevolent enough to pay for the costs of spaying and neutering strays and feral animals, but this is purely voluntary and dependent on animal goodwill ambassadors (someone has to pay these veterinarian for their time and vehicles!).

Here in Canada, the emphasis is on adoption & fostering, to control strays, abandoned pets, and feral cats through no-kill pet shelters, animal adoption clinics, the SPCA, and pet stores. I have yet to see any kind of mobile vet unit doing volunteer spaying & neutering, in the cities I have lived in--or maybe I haven't been paying close enough attention..
