Yes, the chickadees had pretty much a captive audience with us, as they were about the only critters still left in the park at this time of year. There were, perhaps, a few squirrels around and about, but the rest of the natural wild life were either getting prepared for hibernation or had already migrated south.

What kind of fish do you have, Fizgig?

David.

I have Fantail Goldfish, White Cloud Mountain Minnows, Guppies and Guppy x Endler hybrids in two aquariums. They all like Cheerios -- though they do have to be broken down to smaller bits and be presoaked a bit --- and they're actually good for them, too, as long as it's the plain ones & not sugar coated ones.

By the way, deer also love Cheerios ;)

That's great! I used to have fish, many years ago; mostly guppies and fresh water angel fish. I never thought of feeding them Cheerios, but it makes sense, now that you mention it.

When I was a kid, I was amazed when I saw my guppies give birth for the first time. It happened in the morning, just before I was to head off for school. My parents allowed me to stay home that day to watch the entire process.

I have dozens of baby Guppies -- mostly hybrid Guppy x Endler at this pt. -- in "Tropical Haven". All the fish in that aquarium are at least 5th generation residents =) The friendliest fish you'll ever meet --- no fear of people whatsoever; babies & adults alike =)

The best fish for teaching kids about the "miracle of life" are Platies, though.... Hardier than Guppies and the babies are a bit bigger when born. Absolutely adorable, too =) But I bet that was a thrill for you as a kid!

Yeah, the Cheerios are great for omnivorous fish that need more plant matter in their diets. They get the fiber they need to keep their digestive systems in balance. Especially good for Goldfish as they are particularly susceptible to buoyancy related illnesses.

Anyway =) Fun facts about Cheerios ;)
