Saint Boniface, Laufenen / Sankt Bonifaz, Laufenen
Probaply amongst the very oldest chapels in the whole area, but historic evidence is very sketchy. Fact is that the style of foundation and finds in the ground suggest already pre-romanesque roots, but there are only first mentions of the hamlet coming with a smal church from the 13th century. 1746 an extensive baroque renovation took place, Constance Bishop Fugger rededicated it in person and this was the first propper date that can be proven in bills and letters. Recently whitewashed amongst spring flowers, and with this oldfashioned turret it spontanely reminds me of Franco Zeffirelli's Saint Francis movie. |
