The Socony-Mobil Building

High definition photo… ✎ Completed in 1956 to the design of architectural firm Harrison & Abramovitz to be the headquarters of what was then the Socony Mobil Oil Company, now Exxon Mobil. The 42-story tower, with 13-story wings and four-story blue glass base is clad in 7,000 embossed stainless steel panels. It was declared a New York City Landmark in 2003. The building was sold in 2014 for over $900 million. |
