A place to show off those architectural wonders of the past & present....
Merchants Bank of New York Building
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

141 Fifth Ave., Ladies' Mile Historic District, Manhattan, NYC, NY.

✎ The 11-story limestone and terra-cotta Beaux-Arts building was designed by architect Robert Maynicke and completed in 1897. The building is topped with a magnificent 30-ft. copper cupola. The [then] commercial building was purchased in 2005 with conversion and restoration of the façade commencing soon after. The lower two floors were retained for commercial use, while the rest of the building was developed into 38 condominiums & four penthouses -- including a 3200 square foot triplex in the cupola which recently sold for over $16M. The renovations and restorations were completed the fall of 2008 -- including recreating the pictured balcony which had been destroyed/removed in 1950. The building retains its historic status protections by being part of the Ladies' Mile Historic District.
