I dont know how much Americans ever noticed the history of the old wreck that was brought home, but it was quite a controversial story, if we should have this plane in a german museum and in which one, or just let it simply rot at the dump where it ended up when it was to old and bad to use up flying fright in a poor country any longer.
Yesterday incidently Ulrich Wegener died. That is the man who more than 40 years ago lead the special forces tht rescued all those poor scared passengers from the hijacked plane. The Landshut will be his monument and that of those whose lives he saved, not one for the terrorists. And this homecoming was far more than just a high tech spectacle to look at.
