Hi Fizgig
You are right. I have uploaded this before { A NOW DELETED PHOTO THAT FOLLOWED THIS}. My only excuse is that it was late at night!
I will delete this and replace it with another.
I have copIed and pasted your questions on to the previous photo.
FROM FIZGIG; January 11, 2018, 07:52 AM | Delete | Spam
01. What platform are you using? (i.e. Windows, Apple's OS X, Linux...) WINDOWS
02. Which browser are you using? MOZILA - FIREFOX
03. Does the basic uploader also show up in Polish? NO, ONLY THE PAGE WHERE YOU ADD THE PHOTO TITLE AND NOTES, KEYWORDS, ETC
I'm sure there's a simple explanation for the issue....
That aside.... Nice view =) It might be just me, but I seem to recall you posting this photo before....
I WILL NOW DELETE THE DUPLICATED PHOTO!!!!!
Cheers!, Andy

If you upload a photo using the basic uploader rather than the Java based one, does the page change to Polish ?
Andy Rodker January 11, 2018, 02:18 PM | Delete | Spam
Just read your comment Fizgig. Thank you.
Not sure I understand. I simply click on 'upload photos' at the top of any page and take it from there. I get the basic uploader /I 'add to an existing file' / then 'choose photo from computer. '
Only after photo is uploaded and I get the page for adding title and notes that it appears in Polish . All other pages are in English!
Sorry if this is trying your patience!Edit

You're not trying my patience.... I might seem to be trying yours though ;)
The site has two uploaders.... One is Java based -- which is what you get when you click on just "upload photos" and the other isn't Java based. I provided you the link in my previous comment (click on the blue "basic uploader" words).
I'm trying to ascertain if the issue is stemming from Java or is more of a browser or system setting issue.

Hi Fizgig.
Yes. The first thing I did was to go into your blue basic uploader link which is how I knew to confirm it was the basic uploader. As far as I know I don't do much, if anything, with Java.
Further detail is that the Polish words are not throughout the page, merely the words under the photo and the intructions to fill in the boxes. The rest of the page is in English but I still find it odd!Edit

Java is used everywhere.... You may not even realize you use the function in the web browser -- turn it off completely and you'll find your browsing experience turn into a frustrating nightmare ;)
It is odd that only part of the page shows up that way, but there must be a reason for it someplace because if it were an issue with the site itself, there would be more documentation of it from people asking what was going on and so forth....
OK.... So....
Step one.... Do this first.... Click on "options" (along the same strip of clickables as "upload photos") .... Make sure the location options are correct --- if not selected/correct, go ahead an make the adjustments needed. If they were correct, change the country to something other than yours --- preferably one whose main language would be one you speak --- and then save the settings..... Then logout of 23 and back in..... If you changed the location just as a reset, go back into the "options" area and set it to your actual country and save the settings. Log out & back in.... Try the upload thing -- still Polish?

Will give this a go at the weekend. Up against it tonight and tomorrow - deadlines etc. But many thanks. I am intrigued!Edit

Hi Fizgig,
I did as you said.
No change, but my whole log-in page is in Polish! I didn't see this before because I haven't needed to log in for a few weeks as my entry point from Firefox is straight to my front page, rightly or wrongly. Anyway my whole log-in page was in Polish! I changed to French which I understand, and followed your notes and back to English. I then uploaded a new photo. That one page, (the second upload page where it has boxes for photo title and keywords) still has the words in Polish, I presume these words are translated as follows but I havn't seen the English words for some time so I am guessing!
title (possibly notes) - slowa
keywords - znaezniki
then these words underneath
prywatnoze (maybe privacy settings?)
publiczne
and then a box with zachowaj in it which I click on to at the end of the page.
I'm posting this on my Cornwall garden photo as well as your latest one as I can't reply direct to your email. Thanks!!!!! Best wishes,
AndyEdit

Hi Fizgig. Have repeated the process twice again. First time still a mix of English, French and Polish, Now back to how it was before (without the French but with the Polish on that one page!). I have no idea at all! :o)Edit

Alrighty.... Well.... That's whacky =P
So, let's deal with the browser possibility..... You said you use Firefox on a Windows machine.... Let's try using IE (Internet Explorer) instead to see what happens. Log out using Firefox first, then use IE to log into the site and try uploading a photo. See what happens.... If that works without language issues, go back through the options things I described previously and reset them from IE.
Then log out of the site via IE.... Log in via Firefox and try an upload. That's IF the IE upload went without a language switch, if the results were the same as what you're getting with Firefox, don't bother.

OK.... So, now that you know where the issue stems from.... I recommend you make sure you're logged out of the site from Firefox, along with whatever other site gives you issues that you have an automatic login through Firefox for --- in other words, anything where Firefox is set to "remember" the password. Then do these two things:
01 Delete browsing history, cookies & data in Firefox . Step by step directions are available here.
02 Change web browser language settings in Mozilla Firefox. Step by step directions are available here.
Then, without going to ANY sites exit the browser and restart it. Upon restart of Firefox, first manually check to make sure the browser is up-to-date... If you don't know how to, this should help. If an update is needed, install it then proceed to the next step.... If no update is needed, just proceed to the next step.
Make sure your Flash Player is up-to-date... Most sites now are so flash heavy that you can't even tell sometimes when it's running --- that includes the default uploader for 23.... Get the most current version for your system directly from the developer here. Just follow the steps....
Once you've done all the above, you can proceed to login to your various sites that were giving you grief.
NOTE: because you will need to log out of this site to deal with the Firefox issue, I recommend you use IE to view the comments and all that on this site. You can right click on any/all links I've provided above and copy them then paste into Firefox when you need them. Should really only need to copy-and-paste the one for the Flash Player.
(It'll also save a tree by making it so you don't have to print any of this out ;))
Lemme know how you make out! Sorry if it all sounds complicated.... I've tried to make it as simple as possible while not insulting your intelligence =)

No worries on not wanting to try this if you've got other issues going on. None of this stuff would affect your system, but I get the reluctance. Just hang onto the info. --- don't ya dare make me retype it ;P
I'm sure another tech. will be able to see where I'm going with my suspicions of what's going on with your system.
I would strongly advise in the meantime, though, that you at least turn off the automatic updates for Firefox and installing updates on top of software that isn't working right in the first place when you're not comfortable clearing out potentially corrupt pieces will only exacerbate the problems with each update because it does not delete those things when it updates itself. My advice in the short term until your friend can take a look at your system..... Take it or leave it ;)

Many thanks for all, Fizgig!
He advised turning off automatic updates for Windows a few years ago! I wonder if there are associated problems now because of this. No need to reply! I will raise all of this with him in due course!
Once again, very many thanks for all your thoughtful input.
Best wishes,

Yes. Have saved everything! If I lose it I would rather my shingles last another 6 months than ask you you to go through everything again!Edit

The Windows updates thing is separate from Firefox's automatic updates.... Two very diff't things.
To disable automatic updates from Firefox go to the Menu > Options > Advanced > Update. Click "Never check for updates" and uncheck "Use a background service to install updates" to stop the Mozilla Maintenance Service trying to install updates.

Thank you for all your help and advice, Fizgig.
I have saved all the relevant stuff in an outlook folder called Fizgig and Polish Firefox! It can wait until my mate returns from Barcelona when his current IT contract finishes and I will book a session with him to go through it all.
I'm sure your instructions are very clear and idiot-proof and I have even done this sort of thing before and sometimes successfully (to my astonishment!), but in this case, where it's not critical to my work and where I can function reasonably adequately, I think I would prefer to wait.
However it is great to have it all summarised succinctly for him and I am definitely in your debt, Sir!!
All best wishes,

Maybe upload a duplicate of this photo.... Remove the comments that aren't tech. related from this one and make it private... That way you have all the info. and live links nicely saved without it being all in every viewer's face..... And we can all comment just on the duplicate photo.
It's a shame to mess up your Mom's garden with all this tech. trash talk ;)
I have also put this on a PUBLIC setting so that it the only one you should be able to see.
I'm very puzzled!
Can you therefore see two photos of this? one marked private and another marked public? If so, why not just delete the 'Private' one. But even so, if it's Private, I don't know why you can see it at all? Seems to defeat the whole point of s private setting!
If I want somebody able to see my private shots they must be not only a contact but have extra checked that they can see my private shots, but I understand if the private shot is in a group I am member of I could see it. There is always a warning on groups that members will see private pics that are in them. Perhaps it is just so that Remmelt and me are in your Wildlife group if we are not checked for viewing privlegues? I see you put the shot in.
I think you're right! Fizgig hasn't suggested that I made an error here and he was following what I did carefully!
So I think it's only group members who can see this.
But, can you also see the duplicate which has 'Public' under the photo and only comments relating to it - none of this IT stuff - (this one says 'Private ' under it)?
