Some differences: Tex Mex: Heavier, more sour cream, more fajitas, chili con carne etc Cali: More guac, more seafood, rolled tacos, more shredded beef, fish tacos, california burritos etc There is a huge difference between Mex food in SD and LA. Tijuana is different than both. So is Rosorito and Ensenada. That is not even to take into account Mexico city style mex (very different than norteno (TJ) and Veracruz and Acapulco. Not to mention SF Mission style is way different than so cal. And that is just the variations on more “authentic” style Mexican food. There are tons of bastardizations and very americanized styles as well. San Diego literally has a mexican food place on every corner in every neighborhood. (Even the whitest hoods). Its easier to get mex than a sandwich there. |
