I’m starting to realize that I’m only really attracted to men that are in some way unavailable. If a guy is available from the get-go (emotionally, physically, etc), it freaks me out and I blow them off. Also, every guy I’ve ever dated has been noticeably less intelligent than me. Hmmm. I’m bad at this.

I have always though of myself as total GFM. I’m fun, but not wild. I’m happy, friendly, and well-adjusted. I’m definitely young enough to have kids.

The biggest emotional slap in the face I ever got was when I tried to get over someone by getting under someone else. I got too attached to a two-night stand, and when he ended up in a relationship with someone else a week after hooking up with me, I was like “WTF? How am I not girlfriend material?”

So I absolutely agree. Something like being on the rebound, being generally down in the dumps, or even, dare I say it, putting out too soon can DEFINITELY make you NGFM.
You can pretty much condense all of these indicators into one question: “Do I have my shtuff together?” If the answer is no, you probably don’t have any business being in a mature relationship. I’m not talking epic perfection, but you really have to have some clue as to who you are as a person and what makes you happy.

Other signs include:
5) You have no female friends because “you relate better to guys.”
6) You are excessively clingy which I agree could stem from one of the 4 listed in the article.
7) You have a miniature dog that you carry around in a customized hand bag. Some one is seriously projecting mommy issues.
8) You don’t carry a purse. Normal women carry purses, women who expect their boyfriend to carry their supplies are off limits due to their dependency issues.


I can’t relate to your list, but I totally relate to the d-bag with the tiny diamond inside.
