Should You Take an Online Course?
Online courses are becoming more and more popular every year. Students across the nation are given access to an education that they might otherwise miss, and many students are using only online courses to complete their entire degree requirements. If you are considering using online courses during your college career, you need to have both the necessary tools and motivation to be successful.
Tools
The first thing you need to consider is if you have the needed tools to complete an online course. A computer and internet are requirements for these courses. You should have a secure Internet connection that is not easily accessible by others, and it should be reliable. If your connection is not reliable, you run the risk of being logged out during an important test or being unable to submit an assignment before the deadline. Although some professors are lenient in these cases, some of them are not. They expect you to have the tools needed to complete the course.
Self-Motivation
Online classes are more convenient since you can work around your schedule, but it also means that you are responsible for ensuring you complete assignments on time. You will need to be self-motivated and responsible, logging on and completing your work in a timely manner. Some students need face-to-face instruction in order to be motivated, but others are more self-motivated, getting things done on their own.
