With virtually every brick and mortar now vying for a powerful online presence and more e-commerce sites than ever before, more and more people are starting to use the web as a means for savvy shopping. Customers care about lower prices, higher convenience, and better deals, and e-commerce has made what customers want increasingly available.
Thanks in part to the evolution and expansion of e-commerce marketing strategies, sales in 2013 have officially reached $262 billion – a 13 percent increase from last year’s sale, which totaled $231 billion. So, it’s no wonder that U.S. online retail sales are expected to hit an astoundingly $370 billion by 2017.
Surprisingly enough, one of the greatest influences in the growth of e-commerce has been social media.
Check out the infographic, How We Shop in 2013: The Growth of E-Commerce Marketing, to get a detailed play-by-play on social media and its impact on ecommerce growth.
