Monopoly extortion. The Copenhagen electricity monopoly hiked rates of renting the electricity meter from 20 euro per year to 120 euro per year. Let alone that the installation and purchasing cost of the meter probably was written of the books 20 years ago - you exploit your monopoly when the state owned company is getting ready to be acquired by the hungry capital markets. Gonna mail them and ask if i can purchase the meter outright and install my own ;).
Just to make it more absurd it appears that the purchasing costs of a meter is in the range of a 60-150 euro, http://www.elvvs.dk/category.1882.article.16769. IE. the subscription cost per year is in the range of the electricity company's purchase cost of the meter.
